Description:

A Syriac inscription was recovered approximately 20 metres east of the ruined tower at Burǧ as-Sabʿ. The text identifies a monastery at the location and indicates that the tower constituted one of its components. It also bears the year 858 AD, marking the institution as one of the relatively few monasteries in northern Syria that continued to operate after 610 AD. For further details, see: Butler, H. C.
