Fragments of an inscription engraved in two uneven lines, on two faces of a small marble stone pillar. ed. (CIIP IV 3877): [--] ולעזר בנוי [--] [--]נידבת [--] [--] nydbt [--] [--] wlʿzr bnwy [--] '… and Laʿzar his sons … the donation of …' commentary: (by CIIP IV 3877) The length and content of the original inscription, which extended across more than one pillar of a chancel screen, cannot be known, and the original order of words on this small fragment is uncertain, since wlʿzr and bnwy are incised on opposite faces of the pillar; Yeivin in the ed. pr. suggested wlʿzr nydbt bnwy, which makes less sense if Laʿzar was one of the sons of the donor (as w- indicates). bnwy “his sons” is one of the various spellings of the earlier form bnwhy.
