Description
date: 6th c. description: Mosaic floor showing sacrifice/binding/offering of Isaac with Hebrew labels, founded between Zodiac Wheel and two longer mosaic inscriptions. The biblical scene shows Abraham with a knife, holding his son Isaac who is just about to be tossed onto the flaming altar. Both are labelled in Hebrew. There is the hand of God emerging from the heavens above, accompanied by the words of His command. To the left of Abraham is a ram with another God’s sentence referring to this animal. Further to the left, two servants lead a donkey.
