Description
date: 5th-6th c. description: Greek text of Sosibios, who made the panel, in the upper margin of the band 3 of the nave mosaic. The mosaic panel depicts the Consecration of Aaron to the Service of the Tabernacle and the Daily Offering. Some figures are also labeled in Hebrew (https://epi-identity-database.uw.edu.pl/inscription/165). The central part of the inscription is missing. The characters are 6 cm. (son) of [Mil]chos (?).... for the preservation of himself and of his children made [this panel. A b]lessing upon them.' Commentary: The name of the benefactor is not certain.
