Description

date: 5th-6th c. description: Four lines of Greek text on the upper-margin of the central panel in the Band 4. The inscription was cut out in antiquity, possibly not too long after the construction of the mosaic. Later, it was replaced with a JPA inscription (https://epi-identity-database.uw.edu.pl/inscription/edit/168). The panel depicts the showbread table. The estimated length of this inscription can be reconstructed on the basis of the line 4 which had 15-16 letters. The characters are 6 cm high. ed.
