date: No date is offered by Mouterde. description: On a reused pre-Christian altar, on its upper face. When recorded, the stone was in a secondary context at as-Safīra, reportedly brought from al-Qalʿa / Qalʿat Safīra. Dimensions: H. 43,3 cm; W. 47,5 cm. Brossé’s drawing shows that the right-hand end is preserved with a wide margin decorated with a moulding and an ansa indicating that the inscription was framed by a tabula ansata. The left-hand part is broken and lost. Very doubtful readings. First published just as a drawing in 1945 by Paul Mouterde from a copy by C.L. Brossé. ed. Moutrede & Poidebrad 1945, 223, no. 4 and fig. 40,2. Cf. TIB 16, p. 1672. ܝـــܠ ܒ ܦܘܠܘܢܢ ܩـܢ ܒܝܘ .4 ܢܚܩ 2. read ܦܘܠܘܣ = Paulos Mouterde commentary: The drawing makes little sense. Mouterde was unable to propose any intelligible interpretation. He supposed that the name Paulos was the first word in line 2.
