Fragment of a mosaic panel (66x88 cm) with the preserved field for the text (56x62cm). Text in tabula ansata. The right-hand part of the inscription is missing. The remains of 5 lines are visible. It seems that there were no more lines of text. The letters are ca. 7.5 cm high. ed. It is, however, a highly contested interpretation. ed. CIIP III 2166 ἐπὶ Οὐρβικοῦ κ[…] υἱοῦ Ἀγαθές προ(σφορὰ) [ὑπὲρ σ-] ωτηρία(ς) τῶν Θεο[φιλεστά-] των αὐτ(οῦ) τέκνω[ν τὸ ἔργ-] ον τ[ῆς ψ]ηφώσεω[ς][…] 'Under Urbicus son of C… Agathes offered the pavement for the salvation of his god-beloved children…' commentary: The word after the name of Urbicus used to be interpreted as κ[όμες] or κ[ύριος] but it was contested as both readings would require further titles that go together frequently in Greek dedicatory inscriptions. Thus κ[…] seems to stand for the filiation of Urbicus. Agathes might be the person responsible for the construction of the pavement.
