Description
date: 532 CE (the year 580 of the era of Antioch). description: The inscription runs across and architrave from a colonnade of the second story of a house. Dimensions: H. 0.43 m; W. 2.31 m. Decorated with a cross within a circle to the right of the inscription (diameter: 17 cm). Letter height 3.5–7.5 cm. First recorded by the PAES and first published by Enno Littmann in 1934 with a drawing. ed. PAES IVB 24. [- - -] ܒܝܪܚ ܬܡܘܙ ܕܫܢܬ ܬܩܦ possibly ܐܬܒܢܝ, or ‘it was built’ was written at the beginning of the text: Littmann ‘In the month of Tāmūz (July) of the year 580.’ (tr. E. Littmann, lightly modified) commentary: The formula is very simple, just the month and the year are given. It looks similar to that of PAES IVB 23 from this same village.
