Horvat Kur; Tel Kinrot Complete
Localization
Site plan
Description
In the last decade, the project broadened both its geographic and chronological scope to include a rural Galilean locality occupied between the Hellenistic and Byzantine periods. Initial campaigns at this site brought to light several Byzantine-period domestic units. From 2011 to 2014, fieldwork concentrated on a newly identified synagogue—an unexpected discovery not anticipated in the original research plan. Before this expansion, investigations had largely focused on Tel Kinrot, adjacent to Horvat Kur, emphasizing settlement horizons from the Neolithic through the Bronze Age and into the Iron Age.
