Description

Scholars identify Rafāda as one of the most affluent villages of its region, a view grounded in the abundance of domestic remains that exhibit superior craftsmanship and lavish ornamentation. The settlement lies in a mountainous setting approximately three kilometers southwest of Telenissos, where numerous houses with notably fine construction and rich decorative features have been documented. Tchalenko further suggested that, in the second century, the community was largely composed of wealthy landowners originating from the Qatura plain. Further reading: Tchalenko, G.
