Description

Just under a kilometre from the settlement’s structures lie the remains of the monastery of Deir Déhes, whose first thorough account was published in Les Reclus Syriens. The settlement itself, Dāḥis, is located on the Gabal Barisa plateau. On the basis of investigations undertaken by a French team in the 1970s, its occupation is reported to span from the Hellenistic period through the tenth century CE.
