Description

Qalʿat Sarmadā, a small town in Gabal Barisa, has a church that was fortified by the Franks in 1121 during their conflict with the Arab principality. Approximately one kilometer to the south, there is a temple, likely the remains of a monastery dedicated to Saint Stephan. Further reading: TIB 15 – Todt, K.P., Vest, B.A., 2014.
