Description

An extensive archaeological zone at Hebron preserves remains from multiple stages of the city’s evolution, with the most vigorous development occurring from the 11th century to the close of the 10th century BC. From the time when David—according to the biblical tradition—first established his royal seat there, Hebron has functioned as the focal center of its surrounding region. The settlement occupies a leading position within the Judaean highlands and is situated to the south of Jerusalem.
