Description

In 1936, L. A. Mayer and A. Reifenberg examined the locality of Naveh and recorded the remains of an early structure, which they interpreted as a synagogue built on a broad-house plan. Numerous earlier stone elements incorporated into later village construction display Jewish decorative motifs. The settlement is cited on multiple occasions in rabbinic sources. Naveh, a Jewish community of antiquity, lies approximately 45 km northeast of Tiberias; its plotted position on modern maps is only approximate.
