Description:

A church with an arched gallery. It houses at least three Syriac inscriptions (Pognon 1907, nos. 52–54) – the earliest which we comment here dates from the ninth century and also caught the attention of Palmer and Aggoula. The remaining two texts date from the sixteenth and thirteenth century and are beyond the scope of this project. Alternative readings for one of them were suggested by Aggoula (1992, p. 414, no. 12). For a description, see: H. Pognon, Inscriptions sémitiques de la Syrie, de la Mésopotamie et de la région de Mossoul (Paris: Imprimerie Nationale, 1907), p. 95. Further bibliography in A. Palmer, “A corpus of inscriptions from Tur ‘Abdin and environs”, Oriens Christianus 71 (1987), 121. See also: B. Aggoula, "Studia Aramaica III: II. Deux inscriptions syriaques de la Syrie du Nord; III - Inscriptions syriaques de Syrie-Mésopotamie", Syria 69 (1992), p. 414, no. 12.
