Description:
The provenance of this Samaritan inscription remains uncertain. Local Samaritan tradition attributes it to the synagogue at Kafr Qallil. That synagogue appears to have operated beside the ruined temple precinct on Mount Gerizim. An accompanying illustration presents the sequence of construction, derived from archaeological investigations carried out at the site. A separate inscription from the same context, written in Arabic, Hebrew, and Aramaic, is dated 611 AH (1214 CE). An edition of this text was published by I. Ben-Zevi in 1930 and it is referenced in part by K. Beyer (1984, p. 400; h/ssKQ1). Source: https://www.biblewalks.com/MountGerizim Further references: Ben-Zevi, I. 1930.
