Site:
Bāfitīn; BaftineDescription:
In the eastern sector of the Bāfitīn archaeological site, a tower stands above a rock-cut burial chamber, whose entrance opens in the tower’s western wall. The inscription published by Littmann was incised on a stone set partly below ground at this doorway (AAES IV Syr. 9). Briquel-Chatonnet, Desreumaux, and Khoury refer to a second funerary inscription, yet it remains unclear whether it came from the same tomb or simply duplicates the text already noted. For further references, see: AAES IV Syr. 9; Françoise Briquel-Chatonnet, A. Desreumaux, and W. Khoury, 2004–2005, Inscriptions syriaques de Syrie.
