Description

At Bāfitīn, the architectural remains include domestic structures and two churches of basilical type. One is a colonnaded basilica, probably destroyed in the sixth century; the other is a three-aisled basilica articulated by arcades. A tower 6.20 m high with an associated courtyard is also recorded and may represent the remnants of a monastic establishment. The site occupies a position on the slopes of Gabal Barisa, about 700 m from the deserted ruins of the village of Barisha. Further reading: Tchalenko, G.
