date: unknown. description: Graffito on the left-hand door-jamb in the south wall of a house. Dimensions: W. 0.56 m. Letter height 4.5–8 cm. The same doorjamb also bears several carvings of crosses. Littmann found very faint traces of another graffito on the right-hand jamb too but was unable to read it. First recorded by the Princeton Archaeological Expedition to Syria and first published by Enno Littmann in 1934 with a drawing. ed. PAES IVB 60. Cf. TIB 15, p. 995–996. ܐܢܐ ܐܣܛܦܢܐ ‘I am Stephanos.’ (tr. Littmann) or better: ‘I am Istephanos/Esṭepānā.’ commentary: Littmann offers a very short commentary on the use of the name Stephanos in Syriac. Vocalization by Klaus Peter Todt and Bernard Andreas Vest from TIB 15: enā Esṭepānā.
