Description

date: unknown description: There were ca. 18 lines of Aramaic/Hebrew letters, but only is preserved. This (chancel?) post is ca. 18 cm. square and ca. 100 m. in height. ed. Milson 2007: 114 תקה רחמנה 'Be remembered / columns / Ark (teka rahmana) /seat (cathedra) / forevermore / Blessing, amen, selah' commentary: The inscription preserved on this post partially. Perhaps it is remainder of a longer inscription carved on a now-lost chancel screen. Line four contains the words theka rahmana, which can be literally translated as a “chest of the merciful” most possibly referring to the Torah Ark. Milson 2007: 114-115, 343 Naveh 1978: 144-146 (107)
