Description
date: 5th-6th c. CE description: Fragment of a marble block probably a lintel inscribed with three lines of Samaritan script. The right half of the clock is preserved, the left one is missing, according to the reconstructed text. Dimensions: 12x31x5 cm. ed. Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, awful in praises, doing wonders?' commentary: The text is written without blank spaces or dots separating words, which could indicate an early date of this inscription. We, however, date it to 5-6th century regarding other inscriptions from the site. This inscription could serve the same function as the preceding text form this site, i.e. an apotropaic mezuzah. Commentary
The text is written without blank spaces or dots separating words, which could indicate an early date of this inscription. We, however, date it to 5-6th century regarding other inscriptions from the site. This inscription could serve the same function as the preceding text form this site, i.e. an apotropaic mezuzah.
