Description
date: the late fourth or early fifth century CE according to stratigraphy and palaeography description: Greek inscription on mosaic with the colourful lace pattern which comprised interlacing circles and medallions decorated with floral elements. Mosaic is located in the room 63 from the earlier phase. The text is surrounded by a double frame, and its lines are separated by rows of red tesserae. Dimensions: 2x0,8 m. ed. Commentary
The name of the person mentioned in this inscription could be reconstructed either as Sommaseos, known from an inscription in Philadelphia (SEG 38 1660, dated to 550–560 CE), or Sommos a name occurring in a tombstone from Hauran (IGLSyr 21.5.1.83).
