Description
date: 654-663 AD description: Mosaic pavement in the juncture of the two rooms. Text in three lines. No photograph available. commentary: Discovered and recorded by A. Desreumaux, later studied by E. Puech (Dauphin & Kingsley 2003: 68, n. 52) but any reading, translation or photograph of the mosaic inscription are not published yet. The only introduction to its text is a note by Desreumaux (1987:99, n 24) who noted that the date of the mosaic was partly preserved: “Le prémier numéral, celui des centaine, ne peut être que ‘six’ ou ‘sept’; celui des dizaines peut être huit, dix-huit ou quarte-vingts.” Therefore the inscription can be dated to the 7 c. CE, that was narrowed down to 654-663 AD by Dauphin & Kingsley (2003: 68). Bibliography: CIIP V 6002 Dauphin, C. M. and Kingsley, S. A., 2003.
