description: On a plaque (probably limestone). A cross is carved next to the inscription. First published by René Moutrede and André Poidebard in 1945 as drawing communicated to them by J. Lauffray. There was no transcription, however, Paul Mouterde offered an interpretation and translation. ed. Mouterde & Poidebard 1945, 175–176. Cf. Mouterde & Poidebard 1945, 227; TIB 15, p. 1644–1645). ܐܢܐ ܐܚܐ ܬܘܕܪܐ ܕܩܘܬܐ ‘I, brother Theodoros, of Qūta.’ (tr. after P. Mouterde) commentary: The Syriac text is based on our reading of the drawing printed in Mouterde & Poidebard 1945, 175. In l. 3 there seem to be some more hardly legible markings after ܕ. Paul Mouterde interpreted this graffito as a ‘proskynema of an itinerant monk’, perhaps a visitor to an abandoned (?) tomb.

Commentary
The Syriac text is based on our reading of the drawing printed in Mouterde and Poidebard 1945, 175. In l. 3 there seem to be some more hardly legible markings after ܕ.
