Description

A village in northern Phoenicia registered in TIB 15 on p. 822 as Akrād Dayāsina, also spelt: Krād ad-Dāsiniya; Dâsiniya; Dāsinīya. Our map gives an approximate location. Very little is known about the site and apart from some epigraphical finds, there is no information on ancient architectural remains independent from inscriptions' support. Klaus Peter Todt and Bernard Andreas Vest (TIB 15, p. 822) record the following inscriptions: Greek inscriptions: 1) IGLS V 2142 – building inscription on a lintel, dated 346/347 CE; 2) IGLS V 2144 – building inscription on a basalt plaque documenting the construction by Thomas, Iamblichos, and Paulos in 529 CE; 3–8) IGLS V 2145–2150 six inscriptions on loose architectural elements and epitaphs dated 241 or 246 and 302 CE. Syriac/Greek inscriptions: 1) IGLS V 2143 several Greek and Syriac graffiti and labels on the lid of a sarcophagus, probably of a venerated holy figure. Monastic connotations.
