Description

date: 6th -8th century CE description: Bilingual Syriac-Greek inscription on an ashlar of limestone, excavated to the north of the chapel in the room (Raum 611) which possibly served as sacristy, but it was found in a secondary context. It is not sure if this room was the place of origin for this inscribed piece of stone. 14 vertical lines in Greek and Syriac and two horizontal line in Greek. Dimensions: ca. 51x32x27 cm ed. Similar arrangement was used for example in the inscription of a rock chamber at Mar Saba (Syria). The text is discussed starting from the right columns running to the left. However, it does not provide a comprehended interpretation. It was rather a series of notes than one inscription.
