Description

A settlement in southern Syria, located roughly 45 km south of Damascus. Following restoration activities undertaken in 1959 at the site, the remains of a church’s foundations together with its mosaic pavements were brought to light. In 1960, a campaign directed by the Syrian Directorate-General for Antiquities and Museums examined these mosaics; a selection was subsequently transferred to the museum in Damascus. On the site plan, CPA is indicated, although it is labeled “Syriaque.” Image source: Donceel-Voûte 1988, 46–47. Further reading: Brock, S.P. 2002.
