Description

Situated in the central Golan, Qasrin is notable for preserving the region’s most intact synagogue, whose entrance portal survives in full. The building occupies a modest rise within the village. East of the synagogue, the residential quarter underwent partial excavation under the direction of Ann Killebrew. A small spring lies in the northeastern sector of the site, reached by a circular stairway; a wall was constructed immediately south of this water installation. To the north of the spring, loculi tombs were documented. The settlement is encompassed by broad tracts of arable land. Evidence for agriculture and olive cultivation includes two oil presses identified to the west and south of the site. Plan source: Hachlili 2013, p. 81. Further reading: Hachlili, R. 2013.
