Description

In 1971, S. Barlev and M. Hartal pinpointed the position of the synagogue of ‘En Nashut, set on a terrace along the settlement’s northwestern margin. Their observations noted several decorated architectural elements, including stones bearing menorah carvings, a relief depicting a lioness, and a Corinthian capital. That year, M. Ben-Ari conducted a trial excavation, followed in 1978 by a salvage excavation led by Z. Ma‘oz on behalf of the Israel Department of Antiquities and Museums. The ruin extends over roughly 6 a and preserves wall fragments together with at least two olive presses. Originally an unnamed site, it later received its designation from the nearby spring on the adjacent stream, known as ‘En Nashsut. Geographically, ‘En Nashut lies on the Golan Heights, approximately 2.5 km north of Qasrin.
